The First Student Council in Rathmore

First Student Council

Congratulations to all the elected members

A massive thank you to Ms. Lynch for setting up the first Student council in Rathmore. Thank you to the teachers for facilitating the elections in class. There was huge excitement and competition. The students received their badges on Tuesday the 10th of December.

Cross Country at Fairyhouse

On Wednesday the 20th of November we 3rd-6th class attended the Cross Country competition in Fairyhouse. Everyone did a fantastic job running with Tom Tuite coming 7th in his group! Such fun seeing friends from other schools and cheering on our friends in races. Super Proud of all who took part!

Dare To Believe

We were so fortunate to be part of a webinar with Ireland’s double Olympic champion Kellie Harrington and Paris bronze medalists Phillip Doyle & Dáire Lynch. Really fun to join in with their exercises and find out about what it takes to be an Olympian!

Walkathon

A massive thank you to all the pupils who have brought back their sponsorship cards. Please make sure they are all in by Friday the 8th at the latest. On Wednesday the 23rd of October classes in the school went out to walk around the playground all day. We all took turns and had lots of fun running, walking and chatting to our friends. Have a look for yourself to see the gorgeous day!

Shoe Box Appeal

Every Year the parents and pupils of Rathmore are so generous to all charities. This year we are doing the Team Hope Shoe Box appeal again. We hope that every family will be able to make one shoe box for a child who will really appreciate it.

If you could please have them back for after the Hallowe’en break

Our Fantastic Running Team

On Friday the 12th of October 2nd/3rd/4th went to Fr. Murphy’s to run in a cross country event. It was a very tough event but we are so proud of all who took part! It was a pleasure to take the pupils as they were so kind and supportive to their own team members and to other schools, cheering on all the other teams! There was an amazing atmosphere.

SPAR National Tree Day

SPAR National Tree Day took place on 5th October 2023, in partnership with The Tree Council of Ireland. This year’s campaign, themed Nuts about Nature”- “Fiáin chun Dúlra”, encouraged children, parents and teachers to connect directly with nature by planting one of the 2,000 Native Irish Hazel tree saplings available FREE to primary schools on www.treeday.ie.

On the 5th of October we recieved an Oak Tree as it was such a popular initative that the Hazel trees were no longer available. The Men’s Shed in Athboy dug a hole for us and prepared the ground for the oak tree.

On the 6th of October Mr. Mc Cann and the 6th class students planted the tree in the front garden of the school. We hope that in years to come 6th class and all the other children and parents will think about how the tree has grown and their knowledge and thirst for learning has too.
