Science week- Library Visit
During Science week we were so lucky to visit a scientist in Athboy Library. We tested the strength of a jelly sweet using a jelly, a s hook, string and a bottle of water. We also used measuring cups. This was a very fun and interesting scientific experiment. A huge thank you to Athboy Library for inviting us to attend this event for free.

Painting using lighter to darker technique
We had lots of fun painting our backgrounds for a silhouette that we will finish when we come back after the Midterm break.
Meeting the Author Sinéad Moriatry at Navan Library
At this event Sinéad Moriarty read from her new book “Fixing Mum and Dad” and talked about the topics covered in her four children’s books – Refugees, Homelessness, Climate Change and her latest on divorce titled Fixing Mum and Dad. It was really interactive with videos, slides and lots of interaction. Children had the opportunity to get involved, and give their opinions and thoughts on these subject matters.
We had such a special time meeting a real life author and with the shoe box appeal up and coming everyone was touched by her book about a refugee child called “New Girl”.
Credit Union Art
Thank you to the Athboy Credit Union for inviting us to take part in the Credit Union Competition. This year we are thinking about ‘The Joys of Life’

Super Achievement!
We have a super talented soccer player in our class!!! We are so super proud of you!!! Athboy Celtic are so lucky to have you play for them! Congratulations to all the team on wining the Shield and plate at the Unite the Parish Tournament!
Leaf Art
As it is Autumn and the time of year where the leaves fall from the trees for Art we made some beautiful leaf pictures of a person. In 1st/2nd/3rd and 4th we have been very creative with the leaves we found outside.
STEM in the classroom
In our classroom we have future engineers, scientists, mathematicians, coders and job titles that haven’t been made up yet. We really value STEM activities, as the tasks enhance the development of construction, concentrating and designing to develop critical thinking and an understanding of the mechanics of how things work. We are so grateful to Ms. Lynch and Mr. Mc Cann for securing the funding for the fantastic resources that we have in our school. Thank you!

We had a lot of Fun in September! One of the fun things we did was make prints using wax crayons and designs around the playground!
