Rediscovery Centre

2nd-6th class visited the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun Co. Dublin to participate in an engineering workshop. The rediscovery centre is in the building that once heated all the high rise flats that were once an iconic landmark in Ballymun.

In the workshop we brainstormed; thinking about what is Engineering and thought about the types of engineers. We talked about sources of energy and the environment. We designed a made up design and built it from lego. The engineer said we were extremely creative and was so proud of how adventurous we were. She commended us on our excellent imaginations saying that we used our imaginations in the best way possible!

Active Schools: Skip around the world

In September and October, all the classes went outside and skipped for 5 minutes each day to skip the distance of ‘around the world’. We reached all 15 destinations and completed the Around the World route (74, 823). We were delighted to have skipped around the world in 3 weeks!!  We are so proud of our skipping!!!

We love being active

In our school we are working towards an active schools flag with lots of different activities in P.E. We are so lucky to have Adam from the G.A.A. who comes into school every week to teach us Football skills like soloing, fist-passing, movement skills and kicking. We have great fun playing games!

Botanical Gardens- School Tour

We had the most amazing time in the Botanical Gardens, Glasnevin. The tour guides Eoin, Gavin and Sinead were outstanding. All of the children would highly recommend a guided tour. Ms. Whyte’s group with Eoin did some forest bathing which was so special. We could not believe how old the plants are and how special the gardens are for the wildlife. We especially loved the squirrels, terrapins and the heron.
